climbing, jumping, and spinning + a video!

hi! over the weekend we made it our duty to spend as much time outside. sun is a rare, rare occasion in our parts. i also dusted off the cobwebs from my bike and took it for a spin. or two. or 10! it feels so good not having to wait for a bus or train. and it feels even better not lugging the pram up and down the stairs! i forgot how much i love my bike. but harper reminds me each ride with joyful squeals and bouncing. 

one of our bike rides this weekend was over to the princess di playground in hyde park. it's one of our favorites. what a magical and imaginative playground it is with a giant pirate ship, teepees, and a musical corner. it seemed the whole city jumped at the chance to soak in some vitamin D as there was even a proper queue to get into the playground as we were leaving! on our way home, we grabbed some burritos, popped them into my basket, and raced each other home. i know the sun is not going to last. {i mean, it snowed in april last year!} but until then… :)

***i swear harper is addicted to dizziness. is that a thing? can she get high off that? cause she does! she found a little buddy and they spun and spun and spun until they fell off the platform…and then they'd do it again.***

happy hump day!

hi! can you agree it's been a quick week? in theory, i feel like february should be a drab month, but it's actually been awesome. we've celebrated lots of birthdays. valentines day. sunshine{!}. olympics. life is good. i understand the majority of america may disagree with me on the weather note. sorry about all that snow. but for once {ONCE!}, london weather is more desirable. we actually have sunshine; did i mention that!?

scooting along.

this is harper's most prized possession these days. especially since it didn't make the cut to nyc in our attempt to pack light. light translating to 7 large stuffed with shoes at maximum weight bags! since we've been home though, she hardly lets it out of her sight. every day we go out for a little ride around the block. and in short, it's a laughing circus act. i've included a little video to demonstrate. her short, quick kicks make me laugh every time.

harper got some shiny new shoes today, 

and she hasn't been able to stop looking at them. 

she makes her mama proud! 

please don't mind the messy house and chomping of gum {ugh}.

a carny kind of sunday.

while taking harper for a stroll around the neighborhood,

we found ourselves in the middle of a mini carnival. 

as you may remember from here & here,

i LOVE carnivals!

since we weren't biking with any cash,

{and todd was fearful for harper's life on any rides}

we opted for the swings instead.

and don't worry, we kept her helmet on.

harper learns to walk.

i know, i know. 2 videos in 1 week is crazy! but a *lot* is happening.

over the last week, h has taken some major steps {pun intended}—

she learned to sign "more".

she finally learned to clap {6 months later...}.

she is learning how to go down the stairs, 

which is a bit more tricky than going up.

she completed her first somersault.

....and she is walking!

she may look a bit like a drunken sailor when doing so, 

but it's a step up from her wounded soldier crawl.

mini-me yells.

harper is quite my little mini me these days, always mimicking what i do. 

lately, she's gotten a kick out of yelling in tandem.

warning: you might turn your volume down a tad. don't worry... it's worth it. 

but, this is her mother speaking after all. :)

lip smacker.

i took this little gem the other day. this girl is such a cheese, it's hilarious! i love her big smiles and squinty eyes. just like her mama. :)

helping hands: hurricane sandy.

i feel very blessed having moved out of new york city when we did. shortly thereafter, as you all know, hurricane sandy hit. and she hit hard. many of my dear friends had to evacuate their buildings, and even for those who didn't, power and gas was out in downtown for almost a week. a week! in the cold and with children. could you imagine? 

while manhattan definitely dealt with the havoc of sandy, there is beach town, rockaway, that is still dealing with the after effects of the storm. {you may remember rockaway from my posts here and here} since rockaway was hit so hard, last weekend hundreds of latter-day saints organized a group effort to go and serve those in need. this video was shot my brother's friend, and it brought tears to my eyes. it's heart warming and inspirational, and i am so happy to be sharing it with those who haven't seen it yet.

have i mentioned that our girls are going to be besties?
since they are both due in february, i'm feeling pretty lucky that we'll end up
sharing a hospital room together.
{that is if she hasn't already bought out the entire east wing}

batmobile occupies wallstreet.

all week we've heard how dark knight rises has been filming on wallstreet, 

and we finally had to see if for ourselves. 

luckily, we found ourselves a great spot and were able to catch some of the action. 

the only thing that would have made it better is if i had seen mr. bale himself.

this is hubs when he's 85...
