lately, i've been in such a transitional period in my life—new jobs, new apartments, new friends, and all this while living in a city with still so much unexplored territory. while i love change, it's been a little unsettling at times. so through all of these in-familiarities, i appreciate the little, comforting moments in life that help me feel at home again. tonight, it just so happens to be the simple sounds and smells of my tumbling dryer as i lay in bed.
hubs and i have never had a washer and dryer before, so all the memories that have formed around these sounds and smells occurred while living back at home. i remember my family of six gathering together on my parents' bed for "folding parties". at the age of ten, i was never too keen on the idea of having to fold my siblings' underwear, but i do remember the love and humor that was shared at these "parties". i can't help but miss my family, and i am so comforted at the thought of being able to be with them forever. my brother returns from his mission in july, and i am thrilled for us all to be back together again.
looking back at this post, it's a little ridiculous that something as small as the sound of a dryer instantly evoked these feelings, but it has, and i am thankful for the comfort that it's brought.

moving day priorities.
we had quite the busy day moving into our new apartment! luckily for us,
we weren't doing it alone and had some extra burly men to help!
{thanks guys and gals. we owe you a big fat one!}
i've been sick today, so once all the boxes got moved, it was a little hard for me to start putting things
away. that said, i did manage to get to one room in the house....

todd also had his priorities pretty straight.
hey, no judging—there's always tomorrow!

living in disarray.
thanks to my friend taylor, we now have someone subletting
our apartment for the month of april!
but on the flip side, that now means we've got exactly one week to move out,
so my apartment and i are in utter disarray.
in my four married years, hubs and i have moved five times,
so you'd think i'd have this packing thing down to a T,
but i absolutely do not.
between my poor packing job, carry/dropping boxes down 5 flights of stairs,
and a bumpy truck ride downtown,
i'd be lucky if half my stuff made it in one piece.
thank goodness for target + zipcar.

farewell east village. hello downtown!
say hello to our new home!
we officially signed the lease yesterday and i could not be more ecstatic.
this has been the most painful process,
so i can't even imagine how it must feel to actually buy a home!
but now that it's done, i want to stay in this apartment forever
so that i never ever ever have to look again.
while our lease at our current apartment isn't up until may 1st,
i'm too excited to wait and am hoping to begin moving over this week.
anybody of up a packing party!?
i've got a living room full of boxes.
no literally, it's FULL of boxes.
get ready downtown, cause here we come!

a shopping fool.
lately, my life has consisted strictly of this.
i wish i could say it was all for me,
but luckily for my hub's and bank account's sake, i cannot.
bummer hummer.

mikey's
now that todd and i are officially moving from the east village, we're trying to take advantage of all the great restaurants we have nearby. we've gotten into a horrible habit of just ordering in, so now that the weather is getting warmer, we're attempting to voyage out more often. i'm going to miss this place dearly. it has so much life and vibrancy! that said... i do get pretty giddy thinking about our new apartment downtown!!
so in our attempt to eat out more, todd and i decided to go to mikey's. a burger joint in the LES. no matter how many times i go there, i'm always satisfied with their fresh and tasty food {and milk shakes!} after dinner, we decided to get reallll crazy and go dancing. until hubs led me to the dance floor, i had forgotten why i initially fell in love with him—he's got some killer dance moves!
i love my life. i really do! and i am so excited for all the changes happening!

a little glimpse.
although we've been just stupidly busy over the last few days,
we have managed to fit in a few noteworthy activities:
top left: finally spotted one of the elusive "knitted bicycles" in dumbo. i went into an apartment,
came out an hour later, and BAM there she was!
3rd from the top: loving my new kate spade purse that i got for 70% off!
bottom left: bieber fever. in love. my heart hurts.

Ok, so maybe they're not necessarily noteworthy, but that's all i got for ya!

yee haw!
i love being able to go out with friends. especially if a birthday is involved! {happy bday pat} we met at a very cool restaurant in brooklyn called viva toro. despite there being horrible train traffic {no surprise there}, everyone made it—all twenty of us! dinner was great, friends were great, and there was a mechanical bull in the middle of it all. being from texas, i had an obligation to ride that bull, and ride it i did!

pj's and pillows.
i'm constantly looking for any excuse to have a sleepover with my girlfriends!
i just love jumping into pj's
{matching one's if you're like me & amanda},
eating junk,
chatting all night,
and not having to worry about catching a train home.
i love it!
as soon as hubs and i move into our new apartment,
i'm having a big fat sleepover.
any ladies up for switching places with todd?
{tell your hubs not to worry. he's a great cuddler!}
